Named after John Whittier, American poet and abolitionist, Denver's Whittier neighborhood features lovely historic homes in Queen Anne, Victorian, and Denver Square styles. Whittier's convenient position, just northeast of downtown, along with its historic charm, make it a popular neighborhood. Most of the neighborhood is residential and old (1890s) compared to other cities in the American West. Most of the homes were built prior to the 1940s. Connected to Denver with a light rail station, City Park is nearby, as well as the Denver Zoo, making it a great base to explore all that Denver has to offer!
